A spokesperson said the initial incident and a fire in a neighbouring stubble field were extinguished but two stacks of up to 100 tonnes of straw remain well alight.

Six engines were present to control the spread and surround the initial fire.

Three engines will remain at the scene and will likely be there into the night.

Police were informed of smoke crossing the A14 but did not attend.
