Owner of Cookie Barista prepares to launch third bubble tea store in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe

A successful Suffolk-based bubble tea business is preparing to open its third store – less than three years after its first.

The new launch means the dream of owning five stores in five years is well under way for owner Ben Stamp.

Cookie Barista is set to open in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe, on February 9 – joining other successful Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds branches.

Ben said: “I previously worked in hospitality so having my own business I knew I wanted to have more than one site.

“Felixstowe is new-ish to me because I didn’t work there before but I visited for holidays. I’m very pleased with the location.

“We like to be, if we can, first to have bubble tea in a certain town, so being the only person on the High Street to offer bubble tea will be quite unique to Felixstowe.

“That’s why we picked the town; we wanted to fill in the gap in the market.”

Customers will be able to treat themselves to homemade New York style cookies, a selection of fruity bubble teas and craft coffee.

Bubble tea is a tea-based drink, which originated from Taiwan, and is accompanied by chewy tropica balls.

Ben said the size of the Hamilton Road store will enable him to expand his menu, which will now include sourdough toasties served with tortilla chips and mac and cheese.

He added: “We will have a slightly bigger product line in Felixstowe, so that will hopefully appeal to everyone, including someone looking for a coffee break, a little treat or somewhere to enjoy lunch.

“We’ll have a bigger variety here but we’ll definitely have our core products that you can find in Bury and Ipswich, which is the bubble tea, the coffee and the cookies.

“Another new thing we’re doing in Felixstowe, that we don’t have in Bury, is we got a lot more seats, with up 26 seats available.”
