High Road West in Felixstowe closed after school bus catches fire with children on board




A Suffolk road has been closed after a school bus caught fire with children on board this morning.

All the passengers got off safely with no injuries after fire crews were called to the incident at 7.52am in High Road West in Felixstowe.

The road remains closed after it was damaged and the blaze also spread to overhead power lines which has affected the telephone system in the area.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police said they were called at 7.54am by the fire service to help support with the road closure and recovering the school bus.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances from Felixstowe and one from Ipswich East and left the scene at 8.43am after the fire was extinguished.

Suffolk Highways were also at the scene by 9am.
