Final preparations under way as popular Ferris wheel returns to Felixstowe seafront
Final preparations are under way as a Ferris wheel returns to a Suffolk town seafront.
The 34.5-meter high attraction secured a permanent spot in Felixstowe after East Suffolk Council gave the go-ahead in March.
On Monday, parts for the wheel were seen arriving on site between the promenade and Sea Road.
Plans for the wheel to become a permanent fixture were brought forward by Paul Hedges, from Observation Attractions Company, who first introduced the wheel to the town in August of last year.
Mr Hedges said he was delighted to be returning to the town and hoped to open the wheel within the next few days.
“We’re glad to be back,” he said. “We can’t wait to be up and running and attracting people back to Felixstowe.”
The wheel will be able to offer a full view of the town until mid-October.
On what the return of the attraction means for the town, the newly-elected mayor, Cllr David Rowe, said: “We’re thrilled to see the Ferris wheel return to Felixstowe’s beach this year.
“This popular attraction adds a fantastic element of fun to our diverse and vibrant seaside offerings, providing visitors and residents with stunning views and unforgettable experiences.”
The wheel will be open Monday to Thursday, between 10am and 9pm, and Friday to Sunday, between 10am and 10pm.
