Framlingham GCSE results: Thomas Mills High School celebrate ‘brilliant’ grades as pupils collect results
Students across the county are collecting their GCSE results today as teachers celebrate their ‘brilliant’ achievements.
With GCSE grades ranked from 1 to 9, Thomas Mills High School, in Saxtead Road, Framlingham, is celebrating 75 per cent of pupils achieving grade 4 or higher in English and Maths, while 60 per cent of all results were grade 5 or above.
Headteacher Phillip Hurst said: “There have been many screams of delight as relieved students and parents start to celebrate some brilliant results.
“To see students do so well in subjects which are never perceived as easy is a tremendous achievement.”
Several subjects saw record-breaking outcomes for the school, with 45 per cent of physics entries graded 7 or higher and 87 per cent of German results graded 4 or above.
Mr Hurst also highlighted the contribution of Head of Year Rob Symes, who will now guide the school’s largest-ever Year 7 intake.
He said: “Mr Symes has skilfully guided this year group to develop resilience and determination leading to focussed study in Year 11.”
High achievers included Lucy Crossland, Amelia Mosesson and Joseph Handley, who all secured mostly grade 8s and 9s, while Tommaso Castellano achieved the highest number of grade 8s plus a grade 9 in Italian.
Mr Hurst added: “We are looking forward to working with many of the students in the sixth form.
“We do say goodbye to some students as they move onto college and wish them well in their next steps.”
