Much of the A1120 is access only while work takes place.

Suffolk Highways’ official diversion sends motorists on a detour of about 48 miles, according to one.network, which would add an hour to journeys.

From the roadworks, drivers should travel down the A140, before joining the A14 outside Needham Market.

They should use the route all the way around Ipswich, before joining the A12 at Seven Hills Interchange.

Access to the A1120 can then be gained at Yoxford.

This route is reversed for those travelling in the opposite direction.

The road is expected to reopen on May 15.
