Meet chef Alice Norman who is living out her dream at Pinch on Maple Farm, in Kelsale, near Saxmundham
A Suffolk chef is settling in to a larger café on an organic and regenerative farm and is now selling Roman-style pizzas and cocktails.
Pinch on Maple Farm in Kelsale, near Saxmundham, is owned by Alice Norman, who previously worked in prestigious London restaurants.
The head chef, who grew up in Suffolk, and took on Pinch in 2021, has expanded it from a takeaway pastry shop into a café, which opened in July.
She said: “Pinch gave me the opportunity to live out any chef’s dream - being on a farm, right next to the produce we use.
“Being limited by what is available locally has pushed me to be more creative but everything starts with Maple Farm and what’s growing right under my feet.
“Once we’re settled, I have plans to host evenings on the farm with chef friends from across the UK, something I feel is missing in the area.”
Alice has invested in a Castelli Pizza oven, built in Rome, allowing her to cook Roman Pizza, which was added to the menu in August.
From this month wine and cocktails will be available, including a Bloody Mary served with Maple Farm celery.
Customers will still be able to enjoy Alice’s farm-to-table pastries.
Pinch can seat eight inside and 44 outside and is open Thursday - Friday 9am - 2.30pm , Saturday 9am - 3pm and Sunday 9am - 2pm.
