Hadleigh Revisted Exhibition conjures up town memories across the decades
A showpiece charting the changing face of Hadleigh over the course of several decades proved a hit with visitors.
Hadleigh Revisited featured more than 200 photographs – collated from a vast collection held in the town council’s archives – of people, events, shops, transport and schools down the years.
The images, many of which had been donated or loaned by residents, captured bygone eras from as long ago as the 19th century.
Organised by Hadleigh Archive Group, the exhibition, which also featured artefacts, was visited by around 250 people.
It was staged in the Guildroom at Hadleigh Town Hall last weekend.
Archive group member Jan Byrne said: “People stayed for hours.
"It got people talking about the history of the town, which was great as that was our aim.
“The archives group has worked over many years cataloguing and also translating medieval documents relating to the town.”
The Archives Group say more exhibitions are planned.
