“This will allow the teams access to repair the water main.

“The latest programme suggests that all works on The Street, Aldham, should be complete by week ending October 25.

“However, this will be subject to Anglian Water completing their repair as detailed.”

Excavation and repair work are scheduled to begin on Monday, October 14, with repairs expected to be completed by Wednesday, October 16.

Suffolk Highways’ piling team plans to be on-site from October 16 to install the remaining sheet piles for the road support structure.

The prolonged road closure has significantly impacted local businesses in area — including Elmsett Village Stores, a family-run shop, which was forced to shut due to a significant decline in income and foot traffic.

However, after more than 300 days since the initial collapse, the route is expected to reopen in two weeks.
