Bird flu confirmed at premises near Hadleigh





An outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed at premises near Hadleigh – the fourth in Suffolk since last weekend.

The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) said the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was officially detected in birds yesterday at the site.

A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone were put in place.

All birds on the infected premises will be culled.

It follows three cases confirmed in West Suffolk since last weekend with two in Fakenham Magna and another near Bury St Edmunds.

Another case was detected in commercial poultry at a premises near Northwold, in Norfolk, on Friday.
