New satellite rehab hub in Hadleigh launched by Headway Suffolk

A new satellite rehab hub has been launched by a charity in a Suffolk town.

Headway Suffolk is opening a new weekly satellite rehab hub in the library in Hadleigh High Street on Friday, October 6 for people living with brain injury or a neurological condition.

The outreach service will include a range of activities designed to help each individual with their rehabilitation needs and provide an opportunity to meet others in a safe and stimulating environment.

It will also provide valuable respite for family carers knowing their loved one is being safely cared for.

Helen Fairweather, CEO of Headway Suffolk, said: “We are very pleased to be launching our first satellite hub in Hadleigh and we hope our service can grow so we can support more people in the town.

“There’s lots of people out there who need our help. We had successful satellite hubs before Covid, which were small groups of 8-10, and they really helped people to progress.

“We were sad we had to close them because of the pandemic but now is the right time to reopen them to help more people.

“A lot of day centres closed during Covid so there’s a gap in the service and we hope people who used to go to them services contact us.”

Headway Suffolk plans to launch more satellite groups across the county, helping more people connect to its day rehab service without the need to travel to its main hubs in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.

The towns the charity has identified are Aldeburgh, Eye, Framlingham, Haverhill, Leiston, Newmarket, Stowmarket and Sudbury but it wants to hear from people in those areas who would be interested in the service so they can monitor the level of need.

The charity asks if anyone is interested in attending the Hadleigh satellite hub or registering their interest for groups in other towns - to contact Helen Fairweather on 01473 712225 or helenmfairweather@headwaysuffolk.org.uk.

It will open every Friday from 10am to 3pm and to find out more - go to https://www.headwaysuffolk.org.uk/hubs/satellites/.
