Archie Hainsworth and Tom Buckle, of the Nedging Hall Estate, near Hadleigh, deliver medical supplies to Ukraine

Two Suffolk residents have made the trip to Ukraine to deliver medical supplies for the front line.

Tom Buckle and Archie Hainsworth, of the Nedging Hall Estate, were part of a seven-truck convoy that delivered the stock from England to Lviv, in Western Ukraine.

The Buckle family, who own the estate, donated a truck for the trip as well as the supplies itself.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the estate said: “Ukraine is in need of medical supplies and trucks to use for medical assistance on the front line.

“On Saturday afternoon (November 11), Tom and Archie will return to their local pub, The Lindsey Rose – trips like this only occur once in a lifetime and always involve risk, and so everyone is looking forward to welcoming Tom and Archie safely home.”

The two gentlemen made the journey via Dortmund and Gliwce, with a few bumps in the road after running out of fuel at one point, luckily outside of a fuel station.

Tom said that the final leg of the journey was very scary, however: “It became all the more poignant why we made the journey – our truck was dwarfed by military vehicles heading across the border with us, towards the front line.

The two will made their trip back home at first via a bus to Krakow before flying back to England, and will be welcomed back at the Lindsey Rose tomorrow.
