The Lindsey Rose, near Hadleigh, adds new string to its bow with introduction of pony park

A village pub has added another string to its bow with the introduction of a pony park.

The team at The Lindsey Rose had always welcomed dogs as visitors to the pub, but noticed recently it was a popular stop for horse riders on their routes through the village.

The pub, in Lindsey, decided to install the new spot for the horses, which features a water trough, mounting block and poop scoop to tidy any mess.

Tracy Martin, general manager of The Rose, said: “We noticed more and more people riding past and wanted to offer something so they could pop in for a quick drink.

“This has been warmly received by locals and we love something a little different here at The Rose.”

Riders often trot past the pub on hacks in the nearby countryside, with miles of scenic paths surrounding it. Guests are welcome to get a carrot from the kitchen for their horses.

Charlie Buckle, director of the Nedging Hall Estate, said: “Personally I love horses, and this is a great addition to the pub.

“We want to be the heart of the community and that means going above and beyond for our customers – whatever that might be. We love it when an idea comes together.”

The Rose regularly hosts live music events and has a monthly quiz.
