Bildeston Village Stores and Post Office, near Hadleigh, broken into during early hours

A post office and shop in a village near Hadleigh was burgled in the early hours.

Police said they received a report of a break-in at Bildeston Village Stores and Post Office, in High Street, at about 1am.

The intruders smashed a pane of glass to gain entry.

It is not known exactly what was stolen, although cigarettes were taken.

The post office was shut while officers investigated the scene.

Deliveries to the store were postponed, so the shop will not restock until tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Bildeston Post Office said no one was hurt.

The store was closed in the morning but has since reopened.
