Pampered ladies at Haverhill fitness centre add to the feelgood factor for Cancer Research UK
The owner of a mixed martial arts, boxing and fitness centre in Haverhill and an holistic therapist and sports masseur have teamed up to raise more than £700 for charity.
Niki Joyce and Terry Unwin organised a Ladies Pamper Evening at the Defence and Fitness Rooms in Strasbourg Square, which Terry has run for a number of years, to raise the funds for Cancer Research UK.
Niki thanked everyone who attended and donated money, adding: "It was an amazing night, the atmosphere was buzzing.
"It was lovely to hear all the ladies chatting and having and a laugh plus raising money for Cancer Research.
"I chose this charity as my first eventbecause cancer has effected in some way everybody I know, and through research hopefully one day we can be cancer free."
The two first met just before last Christmas when Niki gave Terry a sports massage.
They talked about Niki’s work as a carer for 14-years to the late Professor Stephen Hawking and how the gym is a not-for-profit business and agreed that Terry would provide a treatment room for her.
In March, Niki decided to put together the pamper evening and to use the opportunity to promote the fitness centre, the treatment room and all the therapists who helped out on the night
The event was something for a family affair as Niki's sister, Hayley Pidgeon, owner of Hair Bar in High Street, Haverhill helped out, as did her mum Linda Pidgeon and her other sister Sarah Pidgeon, plus Mandy Boon, who all organised the food and drinks
Also there were Kristin Joyce from Hair by Kristin, Gill Barry, owner of G.G. Barry Intuitive Counselling, who did Tarot readings, Alice Bingham from Make Up from Alice, Angela Addison, who co works with Niki when they do pamper days for clients and Helen Guinivan, an Avon specialist who also helped Niki with web design and photography.
Paul Connelly and Alyn Dargue helped with security and butler tasks.
