West Suffolk Council says changes can be made to plans previously approved for new shop in Kedington, near Haverhill
Some changes - including to the hours during which deliveries can be made -to the original plans that were permitted for the new village store in Kedington have been approved.
In March 2023, West Suffolk Council granted plans for Nisa Stores to relocate from Silver Street to a purpose-built premises on agricultural land next to the British Legion Hall, in Haverhill Road.
The shop’s owners Daxa and Dilip Visana then applied last December for certain aspects of the planning conditions for the new shop to be changed.
This entailed simplifying the roof scape, repositioning the shop and reducing the area of hardened surface for car parking and delivery vehicles and changing the permitted hours during which deliveries can be made - initially set from 7am to 8pm.
Mrs and Mrs Visana requested that deliveries be allowed from 4.30am to 8pm.
They explained that the 4.30am delivery is made using ‘a small van’, adding: “The delivery is usually only one or two small bundles of newspapers/magazines which take less than five minutes to offload.”
On Monday, all of the changes were approved by West Suffolk Council’s planning department.
The delegated report by planning officer Charlotte Waugh explained: “Due to an Anglian Water pipeline the shop building is required to move further north within the site.
“The car parking area has been reduced, albeit with no loss of parking spaces. The roof form of the building has also been simplified.”
A condition of agreeing the change to delivery hours is that only the newspapers and magazines can be delivered before 7am.
