Two men arrested in Haverhill after drugs and ammunition found




The discovery of ammunition on a man searched in Haverhill led to the arrest of two men for alleged drugs and firearms offences.

Officers had reason to conduct a search of a man on Burton End yesterday afternoon.

Once searched they recovered a round of ammunition and a quantity of what were believed to be class A drugs.

The man, aged 33, was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs and illegal ammunition.

He was also arrested on suspicion of the rape of a woman, suspicion of coercive and controlling behaviour, public order offences and kidnap.

A search of a property in the same road was also conducted and this found further rounds of ammunition and police also made a second arrest at the property.

A 50 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs and possession of firearms offences.

Both suspects were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

The 33 year-old was released on police bail to answer on November 3.

The 50 year-old was released on police bail to answer on November 4. Enquiries into the offences are ongoing and investigations continue.
