Beauty salon’s expansion will benefit men in Clare too

Equality is about to hit Clare’s high street with a ladies beauty salon making way for a men’s.

Beautiful You has expanded its ladies salon, relocating it to bigger premises at 5a Market Hill, while its previous unit at 1a Market Hill is to reopen as a men’s salon from Thursday.

Around 200 people attended the ladies launch party last week where owner Lisa Manning said they had had a ‘fantastic response’.

Now with two treatment rooms, the salon’s customers are able to benefit from new treatments, including electrolysis and diaghermy, and can expect to see even more added in the coming months.

Lisa, who has taken on five new staff, said: “I’m feeling really positive about things. We’ve had a fantastic response and it’s busy which is great.”

The soon-to-open men’s ‘grooming’ salon will offer Elemis facials and deep massages, manicures, pedicures, callus peels and chest, back and shoulder waxing.

Lisa, who opened the original salon in October last year, said: “We decided with the original unit not to do men’s treatments and just found that we turned so many men away, so we thought let’s go for it!”

But things look likely to get off to a sticky start, with a charity ‘wax off’ planned from 6-8pm on Thursday (October 15).

Money raised at the event will be donated to St Nicholas Hospice Care, in Bury St Edmunds, in memory of Lisa’s ‘dear friend’ who passed away last year.

“She spent some time in there and they were amazing,” said Lisa.

Beautiful You’s men’s salon is run by appointment only while its ladies salon is open Monday to Saturday and late night, by appointment, on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Both are offering new clients 15 per cent off treatments this month.
