Haverhill salon NU Beauty has seen continued growth and expansion - with more staff, bigger premises and more treatments
As recent success stories go, the growth of a Haverhill beauty salon over the past two-and-a-half years must be right up there at the top.
Not only has NU Beauty seen its staff numbers swell in that time from just one to five, it has also been able to expand its range of treatments, move to a bigger premises and firm up an exclusive deal with a leading provider of beauty products.
Owner and founder Claire Campbell had already worked in the beauty industry for 20 years before she opened a salon in the Menta Business Centre in Hollands Road in 2021.
Last September, she moved to a much bigger, two-storey premises in Hollands Road, next to SnobbyEddy Crafts.
Claire, who lives in Haverhill, said: “Originally It was just myself then It was my 16-year-old daughter (Poppy). She wanted to do an apprenticeship with me, so she came in and then my other two daughters, they also wanted to work with us as well.
”To think, we are all together now. That wasn’t the plan. It’s just all fallen into place nicely.
”They’ve all got their own niche in the business.”
Poppy is now a Level 2/3 beauty therapist, Christina does nails and Molly lashes.
Since moving to the current premises, Claire has also taken on another employee, Abbie, a Level 3 beauty therapist who does facials, massages and lashes.
Claire continued: “We had one sunbed up at the other place and that was a success, which is why we’ve got two now.”
Massage is a new treatment introduced at NU beauty since the September relocation but the move has also opened up other doors, said Claire.
”We have more services and longer hours (10am to 9pm, Mon-Fri and 10am-5pm Sat) and give the girls more opportunities.
”Now we’ve got the upstairs are we are looking to employ or have self-employed hair stylists and more beauty therapists.”
The first floor is being refurbished and will hopefully be ready by the start of the summer, said Claire.
Once ready it will be home to a staff room, two lash beds, hair dressing stations and a treatment room.
NU Beauty has also been collaborating with Enhance Me Aesthetics, a treatment and skin specialists, which has been at the salon once a week to perform treatments but is due to be there on a full-time basis.
The salon also has an agreement with Elemis of London for the sole use and distribution of its beauty products within an18 mile radius.
