Haverhill businesses support town charity REACH Community Project's Christmas appeal with match-funding offer
Haverhill charity, REACH Community Projects, has launched its Christmas appeal in what it believes to be its toughest winter so far for low income families.
And thanks to the support of some Haverhill businesses every pledge will have double the impact after they agreed to match every donation up to £100.
Henry Wilson CEO of REACH said: “This is fantastic news.
"There appears to be nothing but bad news, especially with the new Omicron variant that’s causing a little bit of unease to say the least. ‘Will Christmas with the family happen? Will there be another lockdown?’ etcetera, and this year we really wanted to bring a bit of cheer, to lift our spirits.
“This year we are highlighting some of the families that together with donor’s support, we’ve changed their world (see Jerry’s story - Reach Haverhill: Christmas Appeal 2021) because we may not be able to ‘change the world', but by giving a little, we can ‘change someone’s world’.”
“But it’s not all about raising funds, though that would be great, we also wanted to highlight some of our stars. Those who really make it happen, like our volunteers, our donors – we really couldn’t give a single box of food if wasn’t for them.
“To make it a bit of fun and help lift our spirits, we have invited all the schools in the area to submit a video of a carol – and there’s some fabulous ones coming in.
"These will be posted out on our social media sites and on our website.
"We are also looking to host our first ever Carol Concert on December 16 at St Mary’s Church with some traditional carols that will mean we can sing our hearts out, something that we’ve not really been able to do for a while."
The REACH Christmas appeal will be running throughout December. Donations can be made via its website
