Child sex offender from Haverhill committed his crimes over a period of 42 years




A Haverhill man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for a series of sex offences against girls.

Bryan Everitt, 76, of Broadcroft Crescent, committed the offences against three girls, aged between ten and 15, over a period between 1961 and 2003.

He appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, February 25 having previously pleaded guilty before the court to one count of gross indecency with a girl aged under 14 and six counts of indecent assault against girls aged either under-14 or under-16.

Four of the assaults took place in either 1961 or 1962, with the remainder being committed between 1999 and 2003.

Everitt was sentenced by Judge Emma Peters to a prison term of six years and four months, half of which will be spent in custody and the rest on licence after he is released.

Everitt has also been placed on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life and given a sexual harm prevention order, again for the rest of his life.
