'Happy and comfortable' childcare setting in Stradishall rated 'Good' by Ofsted
A childcare setting in Stradishall has earned praise from an education watchdog following its first inspection since it came into new ownership.
The recent inspection by Ofsted at Happy Days Childcare (Suffolk) Ltd (formerly just called Happy Days Childcare), in Lancaster Way, was the first it has been through since it was bought by two new business partners in April 2016.
The inspector, Karen Harris, rated Happy Days as ‘Good’ overall, with ratings of ‘Good’ also being awarded in every one of the four key areas on the report: effectiveness of leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; outcomes for children.
It maintains the same rating awarded to the childcare provider – which provides full day car for children from three-months of age up to 11 – after its previous inspection in 2015, when it was under different ownership.
Debbie Corsey, one of the partners at Happy Days, said she was pleased with the outcome of the inspection and singled out one particular comment on the report.
She said: “It’s a good report. The part that says ‘chil3FEW\dren have fun and are motivated to learn’ is really good because that is what it is all about.”
The summary of the report’s key findings said: “Children build secure bonds with staff. This has a positive impact on their emotional well-being.
“Children of all ages demonstrate that they are happy, settled and comfortable in the setting.
The report went on to say: “Staff know the children well. They regularly assess children’s level of development and use this information to target children’s ongoing learning.”
The report did, however, suggest some things could be done better, saying: “Staff do not always provide children who prefer to learn and play outdoors with the best possible opportunities to enhance their early reading and writing skills.”
