Couple rescued from vehicle stuck in floodwater in Waterhall Road, Wixoe, near Haverhill

A couple in their 70s were rescued after their car became stuck in floodwater.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called at 1.32pm today to reports of a vehicle trapped in water in Waterhall Road, Wixoe, near Haverhill.

The car became stuck at a crossing point, leaving the occupants trapped inside.

Firefighters wearing flood suits were able to rescue the couple, who were not injured.

Engines from Haverhill and Newmarket attended the incident, which was dealt with by 2.09pm.
