Coronavirus: New interactive map shows how many people have died with Covid-19 in Haverhill and the surrounding villages
The total number of people to have died with Covid-19 in Haverhill and neighbouring communities over a four month period has been revealed.
A new map from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has this week shown how many Covid-19 related deaths there have been, by area, in between March 1 and June 30, and registered by July 11.
The map details deaths involving Covid-19 by ‘Middle Layer Super Output Areas’ – small areas, each with a similarly-sized population of about 7,000 – while the size of the circle for each area represents the number of deaths.
In all cases coronavirus (Covid-19) was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.
These areas do not correspond to the boundaries of the different ward divisions at the district councils in which they fall.
On May 1, ONS figures revealed that there had been four deaths in Haverhill.
That number has now risen to 13.
The worst hit area was Haverhill East and South, where 10 people have died; two in March, two in April and six in May.
In Haverhill North, there have been two deaths, with one recorded in each of April and May.
Haverhill West, meanwhile, has had one death, which took place in April.
In the Linton and Balsham area, which includes West Wratting, Weston Colville, Hildersham, Horseheath, West Wickham, Bartlow and Castle and Shudy Camps there has been five deaths, four of them in April.
In the Kedington, Hundon and Withersfield ONS area, which also includes Wixoe and Stoke by Clare, three people have died, while Clare, Cavendish and Wickhambrook has seen one death.
The number of deaths in other areas covered by the Haverhill Echo are:
- Duxford, Whittlesford and Abingtons(includes the villages of Babraham and Pampisford) 1.
- Steeple Bumpstead and Great Yeldham (inc Sturmer, Birdbrook, Stambourne, Helions Bumpstead, Ridgewell) 2.
