Driver seriously hurt after car leaves A143 near Haverhill and collides with a tree
A man suffered serious injuries after the car he was driving crashed into a tree on the A143 in Barnardiston, near Haverhill.
The Honda Civic collided with the tree at about 6.40am yesterday. No other vehicles were involved.
The car was smoking after the collision, which resulted in the tree hanging in the road.
It was moved with the help of a member of the public.
A single fire crew from Haverhill attended and worked to make the car safe. The ambulance service also attended.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said the man driving the car suffered 'serious injuries'.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “An ambulance and rapid response vehicle attended a road traffic collision on the A143 at Barnardiston just before 7am yesterday.
"A man was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.”
