Thurlow Fayre raises an impressive amount for good causes
The organisers of this year's ever popular Thurlow Fayre believe that the event has raised between £7,00 and £8,000 for local good causes.
The High Sheriff of Suffolk, and Thurlow resident, George Vestey, officially opened Sunday's packed programme of events at the village's recreation ground, all organised by a dedicated committee of 16 people.
Allan Loveday, the committee's treasurer, said: "With the brilliant weather we had, the turnout was as good as we have known it in the past.
"It's up there and matches any turnout we've had.
"I am pleased, and the committee is well pleased, with how the day went."
The plethora of entertainment included displays by the Lisa Mason School of Dance and the Fire & Ice Majorettes, sheep racing by Gemma's Farm, music from Hadstock Silver Band, gun dog displays, a fun dog show, classic cars, a beer tent, produce show and a history display about all the men from Great and Little Thurlow who fought in the First World War.
