Concerns over occupant's safety allayed after fire at Haverhill house
Fears were raised that someone was still inside a house in Haverhill after a fire broke out in its kitchen this morning.
Two fire appliances from Haverhill and one from Clare were called to the house in Chestnut Close, a quiet, residential cul-de-sac, at about 8.30am after the fire service received a call to say someone was still inside the property.
Police and the ambulance service also attended.
The fire broke out, said a Suffolk Fire and Rescue service spokesperson, in the 5 metres by 6 metres kitchen and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.
All of the occupants of the house were accounted for and the incident was fully under control just before 9.30am.
