The Haverhill Show takes place this Sunday and it will have plenty to offer everyone

This Sunday’s annual Haverhill Show looks set to be one of the biggest yet, say its organisers.

The community event - part funded by Haverhill Town Council and local businesses who sponsor different attractions - takes place on the Recreation Ground from 10am to 4pm.

The show will also see the launch of Haverheart, a new award for community volunteers that has been created by the Haverhill Show Committee.

Haverhill Show chairman Joe Mason said: “The Committee, made up entirely of volunteers, have worked all year to make this Haverhill Show the biggest yet.

“We are delighted to have new attractions such as the Segway Experience and Funfair Rides.

“We also have a huge marquee at the centre of an Arts & Crafts Village with over 35 local traders attending.

“We think these new additions are going to prove hugely popular. There is so much to see and do at the Haverhill show this year.”

Of the Haverheart launch, Mr Mason explained: “The committee wanted to have an additional opportunity to each year present an award for specific nominated groups and individuals who have in their voluntary work demonstrated a significant and special contribution to Haverhill.

“These awards are separate to the local charities and groups that have been selected as beneficiaries and is open to anyone involved in volunteer work or who has demonstrated through their actions high levels of civic pride.”

The show will also be featuring many attractions including a car boot sale, pony rides, baby show, car show, bike show, bungee trampolines, bouncy castles, mobile cave, fire engine, a food village and live music.

This year the show's beneficiaries are; Haverhill Stroke Club, REACH, Memories are Golden, Haverhill in Bloom, Friends of St Mary's Church, Little Wonders Pre-School, Haverhill Community First Responders, Tuesday Club and Haverhill Library.

Last year the Haverhill Show raised £4,150 and this year the committee hopes to exceed that.

The Air Training Corps - 1451 Haverhill Squadron, will beboosting the fund-raising by asking adults to donate £1 when entering the show.

The Haverheart Trophies will be presented to the winners at the beneficiaries cheque giving event in October.

Visitors to the show are invited to make nominations by visiting the Haverhill Show Gazebo in the centre of the Recreation Ground.
