Former MD of Ardex in Haverhill, who lives in Sudbury, given Lifetime Achievement Award at The Tile Association (TTA) Awards
The former managing director at Haverhill-based tile adhesive manufacturer Ardex has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at The Tile Association (TTA) Awards.
Peter Bell, who retired at the end of 2023, was presented with his award during a gala event held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, which ran alongside the Tiling Show, the sector’s most important trade exhibition.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry over many years.
Peter, who lives in Sudbury, worked at ARDEX for 21 years, rising to become managing director.
He said: “Receiving this accolade at the tiling industry’s national awards night is a real bonus to round off my career and I am enormously grateful to my colleagues within the industry who have supported me over the years, and especially all the staff at ARDEX and BAL who have worked so hard to build a really impressive business, that now rightly asserts its market leadership within our industry.”
Peter was also MD of sister company BAL, based in Stoke-on-Trent, and played a key role in bringing the commercial operations of the two brands together as a market-leading force in the sector.
He was also a member of the global management board for the ARDEX Group for ten years, in addition to his role as MD of various group companies.
In 2013 he was elected a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Tylers & Bricklayers, one of the oldest and most prestigious livery companies of the City of London, which can trace its roots back to the 15th century.
He was granted the Freedom of the City of London in 2013 and in the same year hosted a Craft Event for 30 members of the Livery at BAL.
Peter was also a TTA board member for seven years between 2011 and 2017, during which time he was very active, helping promote TTA’s agenda of driving up standards within the UK tiling sector.
He only reluctantly came off the board due to pressure of work caused by his appointment to the ARDEX global group role in 2017.
