Haverhill A-level results: Haverhill Community Sixth Form says vocational results ‘best in its history’
Haverhill Community Sixth Form says its vocational results were the best in its history as students have collected their A-level results and Level 3 qualifications.
The sixth form, on the same site as Samuel Ward Academy, has seen many students achieve their first choice of university and apprenticeships.
Pete Wilson, head of Haverhill Community Sixth Form, said: “I congratulate students and staff on all the hard work that has gone into achieving these results.
“I’m pleased that so many of our students are moving on to their first choice of university, apprenticeship or employment.”
Among those celebrating was Madeleine Hancock-Smith, 18, from Haverhill, who achieved a A in geography, B in art and C in biology to earn her place at University of East Anglia studying Environmental Science.
Madeleine said: "I'm just really, really happy - I'm shaking. I was really nervous first thing this morning and I just kept refreshing the UCAS website.
"It was a wonderful feeling to get accepted and I really wasn't sure what to expect with my grades.
"I would like to thank all the staff at Haverhill Community Sixth Form. They have been so lovely and so supportive - I don't want to leave here."
Lucy Almond, 18, from Haverhill, will be studying History at University of East Anglia after getting an A in sociology, B in history and B in English Language.
Lucy admitted: "I don't think my results and my university placement has really kicked in yet.
"I was really anxious about my results and so relieved when I got them. I think it is a mix of emotions and I won't really process the fact that I have got into my top university until later."
Jasmine Driver, 18, from Kedington, said she was "really chuffed" after getting into the University of Essex to study sports therapy.
After achieving a Distinction* in business as well as an A in PE and B in psychology, Jasmine said: "I have to admit the results have been on my mind over the summer and I didn't sleep much last night.
"But I am really chuffed with the grades and the fact that I have got into my top university."
