A safari, a magic show ad much more, all in one Haverhill venue
Some endangered animals were spotted in East Town Park last Wednesday when the Picnic in the Park took place.
The popular event is one of the free community fun days staged by Haverhill Town Council during the school summer holidays.
This year, as well as the usual great variety of events on offer, such as dance, mini-garden and junk jewellery workshops, giant board games and a magic show there was an East Town Safari, which proved very popular.
Nick Keeble, the town council arts and leisure manager who came up with the idea, said: "It was a safari where children went around and came across a gorilla, elephant, polar bear, panda and a stegosaurus in the park.
"Apart from the dinosaur all the other four were endangered species so for each animal people had someone to talk to them about it and so they learned about why they were endangered and what they eat.
"More than 300 people went out on it, which we were really pleased with."
The Safari was run with the help of the Friends of East Town Park.
