Ever-changing circumstances have not stopped one IT services company reaching out to provide crucial support to the community.

Nicom IT Services, based in Queens Square, Haverhill, has had to close its store due to the most recent lockdown, but has been rolling out more help than prior to new restrictions through deliveries.

Parents have needed help with their children’s laptops, as well as shielding elderly people stuck at home without functioning laptops which would normally be used to make online food shopping orders.

Nick Rutter, who owns and runs the shop with his wife Sarah, said people had been really thankful for the help, especially the elderly who were worried about the virus.

“People have left me boxes of Quality Street,” Nick said.

“We’ve got one lady who is just physically not able to come out (of her home) but she was very grateful that we went out to her.”

He added there were some people stuck at home who needed laptop repairs done or they would not have been able to eat because they could not do their online food orders.

The shop’s most recent efforts come on the back of being awarded a 2020 SME Regional Business award last September in the Best IT Services in Suffolk category.

Amongst other things, the shop was recognised for the work it does for charity.

Nick said: “I’m really proud and more than anything I’m really proud of my wife and my team.

“We opened this business five years ago and I never really thought we’d be here.”

He added: “It does show that we are going in the right direction.

“People are sharing our posts and tag us on Facebook. I’m very proud of what we have achieved so far.”
