Sheldon Parrinello, of First Avenue, Sudbury, appears at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court accused of Haverhill funfair stabbing
A 20-year-old man accused of stabbing a boy at a town funfair will go before crown court next month.
Sheldon Parrinello, of First Avenue, Sudbury, appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with four offences.
It stemmed from an incident on Friday when police were called to the event on the Recreation Ground, off Camps Road, in Haverhill, at 6.10pm after reports a boy had suffered stab wounds.
The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
The suspect of the stabbing is then alleged to have been assaulted, sustaining a kick to the head.
Following inquiries, there was a further allegation that a 12-year-old boy had been punched prior to the stabbing.
Parrinello was charged with:
• Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
• Assault by beating
• Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place - namely a kitchen knife
• Possession of a knife blade in a public place - namely a pocket knife with a blade exceeding three inches
He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Cambridge Crown Court on June 2.
A 22-year-old, of Haverhill, arrested alongside Parrinello has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
