Haverhill man Alan Mizon, 50, caught with 15-inch knife in town pub is jailed




A man who was caught with a 15-inch knife in a town pub has been jailed.

Alan Mizon, 50, of Landseer Court in Haverhill, appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on Thursday, June 13, where he pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place.

Police were called just before 6.50pm on March 29 following reports a man walking along the High Street, Haverhill, was in possession of a knife.

Officers attended and found Mizon in a pub on Market Square where he was searched and found to be carrying a 15-inch blade.

He was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently charged.

Mizon was sentenced to 18 weeks’ imprisonment.

He was also sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment for breach of a molestation order, to be served consecutively, and ordered to pay compensation of £500.
