Haverhill firm Acrow Galvanising praised by Nick Timothy MP during visit
The MP for Haverhill praised the contribution to the town made by Acrow Galvanizing when he visited the company last week.
West Suffolk MP Nick Timothy was given a tour of the Piperell Way facility by Chris Woolridge, managing director of Wedge Group Galvanizing, and enjoyed the chance to meet staff and see the galvanizing process in action.
Following the visit, Mr Timothy said: “This fantastic business is a testament to local skill and ingenuity and is a huge asset to Haverhill. It is a source of scores of local jobs, and we are very lucky to have it here.
"As someone whose dad worked in manufacturing, I was moved and impressed to see the professionalism of those working at the plant, and the expertise and hard work that goes into the process of galvanizing steel so it lasts long into the future.
“It’s so vital that the Government supports businesses such as this, and helps them so they can build on their success and continue to invest in local communities.
“Unfortunately, Labour is doing the very opposite by raising taxes on businesses and risking jobs and pay.”
The plant employs 50 people and is one of 14 similar facilities across the UK owned by Wedge Group Galvanizing.
