Haverhill Banking Hub opens in former Clintons Cards in High Street following impending closure of Lloyds Bank

A town's new banking hub has opened this week following the impending closure of the last branch in town.

Cash Access UK opened Haverhill Banking Hub on Monday which is at the former Clintons Cards in High Street.

The hub is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and has a counter service operated by the Post Office where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions.

This is the first permanent banking hub to open in Suffolk with four more planned for Hadleigh, Leiston, Mildenhall and Woodbridge.

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I'm delighted that that the permanent Banking Hub in Haverhill is now open.

"I’d like to thank the library for being hospitable while we were getting the new home ready.

"Customers can visit on any day of the week for their everyday banking transactions and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the Hub.”

Community bankers, who help with more complicated issues, work on rotation at the hub with a different bank available on each day of the week:

Monday: HSBC

Tuesday: NatWest

Wednesday: Lloyds (from December)

Thursday: Santander

Friday: Barclays

Counter services at the hub include withdrawing and depositing cash, depositing cheques, paying utility bills, checking your account balance and collecting change for registered business customers.

The official opening of the banking hub is set to take place on Tuesday, November 12 between 11am and 12pm and all are welcome to attend.

The hub was initially recommended by LINK, the UK’s cash access and ATM network, following the announcement of the closure of the town’s last remaining bank branch, Lloyds, which is set to close its doors in December.

Earlier this year, while the site for the permanent hub was being refurbished, a temporary hub was opened in the Haverhill library which is now closed.

Customers are being reminded that, while the hub is managed by the Post Office, it is not a full-service branch and you cannot send parcels or buy stamps at this location.
