Haverhill officially welcomes its newest nursery, Unity Stars
A new children’s nursery in Haverhill has been officially launched following a grand opening on Saturday.
Unity Stars has opened on the grounds of Coupals Primary Academy, in Chalkstone Way, for children from birth to three years old.
After opening in November, the ribbon was cut on the new nursery by Haverhill mayor, Cllr David Smith, watched by staff, families and local dignitaries.
Karen Davies, nursery manager, said: “We would like to thank everyone who attended our official opening and to everyone who has supported Unity Stars on this journey.
“We want to create the best possible environment for childcare provision and we have been delighted with the response we have had from local families and the community.”
The nursery is open 51 weeks a year, between 7.30am and 6pm, and welcomes children on a full or part-time basis.
It is divided between two rooms, Twinkle Tots for the younger children and Rising Stars for those aged between two and three years old, and has a private garden for exploratory play and outside learning.
Cllr Joe Mason, who represents Haverhill at county, district and town level, attended the opening.
He said “Unity Stars nursery opening is fantastic for the area.
“Totally refitted, this modern, child-centred facility is a very welcome addition to Haverhill, that has seen a shortage of available nursery places in recent years.
Unity Schools Partnership and in particular nursery manager, Karen Davies and her team, have done an amazing job getting the nursery ready and it is clear that this is set to become a very popular nursery.”
Unity Stars is the first standalone nursery to be opened by Unity Schools Partnership with another due to be opened on the Clements estate in Haverhill next year.
