Ofsted inspectors say Haverhill school has maintained its high standards
Fostering an inclusive community that encourages pupils to be confident and proud has been highlighted at a Haverhill school following an Ofsted inspection.
Pupils and staff at Burton End Primary Academy are celebrating their achievements after the school was found to have maintained the standards of their previous ‘Good’ inspection five years ago.
Following the inspection in March, an ambitious and broad curriculum was praised with the report stating: “Pupils know what makes them special and unique. They treat each other with kindness and respect.
“Pupils behave well. They are enthusiastic about learning and enjoy socialising and playing with their friends.
“They learn how to stay safe, both online and in the community. Pupils are confident and proud members of their school.”
Other areas highlighted in the report included the fact that pupils “relish the challenges” set by teachers and they understood what makes them special and unique.
The report added: “In class, pupils share, collaborate, focus and listen. Pupils learn how to be resilient. Pupils become increasingly independent and take responsibility for their learning.
“Pupils enjoy reading - they know why learning to read is important. Overall, pupils learn and achieve well.
“The curriculum is well sequenced. It allows pupils to build up their knowledge securely in different subjects. Pupils rise to their teachers’ high expectations, particularly in English and mathematics, where they produce high-quality work.”
The school’s SEND provision was also highlighted with pupils accessing “the full breadth of the curriculum” while a range of educational visits and visitors help enhance the curriculum.
Headteacher, Graham Almond, said the whole school was delighted with the outcome and findings of the inspection, which also praised school leaders for knowing both their pupils and families well.
Mr Almond added: “We are proud that the report highlights our children are safe, happy, achieve well and are part of an inclusive community.
“We thank the staff and parents for their support and look forward to our continued success over the coming years.”
