Radwinter church becomes a concert venue with a difference
‘Music at the Crossroads’ will transform the village church in Radwinter into a live music venue and local pub on June 23, with Bishops Stortford Ukulele Society providing the entertainment.
There will also be a ukulele workshop from 5pm to 6pm, costing £5, which entitles participants to free entry to the 7pm concert. Ukuleles will also be available to hire or buy.
Participants in the afternoon workshops will be able to join in with the concert if they wish.
The stage will be set at the front of the chancel and a licensed bar, serving Adnam’s ale will be run from the belfry.
Past ‘Music at the Crossroads’ acts have entertained us with rock, jazz, Hungarian folk; country, delta blues and there have been several that defy labelling.
It’s all very informal and the musicians always stay and chat to
people at the end of the evening.
Colin Taylor the founder of ‘Music at the Crossroads’ said: “We try to create a relaxed club-type atmosphere where people are free to wander around or stand around the bar, on occasions we have even had people dancing in the aisles.
“The musicians really enjoy performing in the church because the acoustics are so good and create a sound that you wouldn’t find in any
other venue."
Tickets are £5 from David on 01799 599507 or Andy on 01799 599243. Or on the door.
