Castle Manor Academy in Haverhill becomes first Suffolk school to partner with global giant Deloitte
Students in Haverhill will be able to learn new skills in preparation for the world of work after their school became the first in East Anglia to form a partnership with a leading company.
Deloitte Cambridge and Castle Manor Academy have teamed up to form the new partnership as part of the firm’s 5 Million Futures programme.
The 5 Million Futures programme offered to schools is designed to complement the existing school curriculum by upskilling students with practical and soft skills that aid their transition through secondary school and into further education and employment.
It will focus on delivering beneficial sessions to students, which will cover a range of practical areas such as financial awareness, CV writing and job applications as well as soft skills sessions focusing on building confidence and interview skills.
The programme also extends outside of the classroom, and will work with governors, teachers and other school staff to support strong and sustainable leadership.
The Deloitte Cambridge programme is led by Faye Dorsett, tax director at Deloitte.
She visited the school recently with her colleague Kirsten Riding to meet the leadership team and students.
Faye said: “We are thrilled to partner with Castle Manor Academy and are excited to use our skills to make a real difference to the young people in our local community.
“I have seen first-hand how ambitious the staff are for their students, and how dedicated they are to helping them prepare for the world of work.”
Vanessa Whitcombe, headteacher at Castle Manor Academy, said the school is delighted to have linked up with Deloitte:
She said: “We are so delighted and proud to be a partner school working with Deloitte.
“This partnership will bring excellent opportunities for our young people and our whole community, raising aspirations and preparing students for the challenges of tomorrow.
“We have various projects already lined up which will have significant impact on our students and staff and we cannot wait to get started.”
Castle Manor is the first school in Suffolk and the only one so far in East Anglia to have so far joined the 5 Million Futures programme.
The nearest to the region to have done so is the Milton Keynes Academy.
