Destinniah Dack, 10, of Haverhill and student at Bury St Edmunds’ The Priory donates hair to Little Princess Trust and raises £500
A girl who grew her hair out to help make wigs for children suffering from cancer has raised more than £500 in the process.
Destinniah Dack, 10, of Haverhill, under took the effort for the Little Princess Trust, which provides free wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
Her mum, Rebbeca, said her daughter was blessed with long hair which grows quickly, so doing something for the charity was ‘a natural thing to try and do’.
She also donated some hair to the charity when she was five years old.
“I’m very, very proud of her,” she said.
“She’s a lovely little girl and she wanted to help other people that may be insecure.
“Her nan has cancer, and she keeps saying that when she is older she wants to be a scientist to find a cure for it.”
Destinniah, who is a student at The Priory School, in Bury St Edmunds, has autism and tourettes, and mum Rebbeca said this made her want to help other girls so they do not have to feel different.
