Haverhill school earns lyrical praise from famous poet Professor Benjamin Zephaniah
A Haverhill school was shocked and delighted when a renowned poet sent them a poem after seeing a post it had made on Twitter.
Key stage Two pupils at Place Farm Primary Academy were learning and performing Christmas poems, which included Year 6 studying the poem Talking Turkeys, by Rastafarian poet Professor Benjamin Zephaniah.
After the school mentioned this on Twitter and tagged the poet in the message, Benjamin responded with a poem dedicated to the school.
Lisa McConnell. deputy headteacher, said: “We were thrilled when Benjamin himself responded to their Tweet by writing a poem to congratulate them on their hard work.
“What a fantastic boost to our children’s confidence.
“It’s so great when pupils get a response like this - what a brilliant end to the term.”
The poem said: “Wow, you really are awesome,
Yes, you really are kool,
Hey, you know how to do it,
At Place Farm School”
