Broadlands Hall school near Haverhill granted permission to build two more classrooms

A special school has been given permission to build two new classrooms as it marks its continued expansion.

Broadlands Hall, in Little Wratting, near Haverhill, lodged plans with West Suffolk Council in August.

The plans for two new classrooms came after regular maintenance on the building’s heating and water found an under-utilised area.

It can now build them behind its laundry room, which would also allow for two more staff to be hired.

Planning documents said: “Given the ever increasing pressure to provide additional allocation for students, the opportunity to re-develop the area would be welcomed for extra classroom space, given the one-to-one teaching employed at Broadlands Hall.”

Last month, SuffolkNews reported Broadlands Hall was taking on more students after a positive Ofsted outcome, increasing its roll from 50 to 65.

Broadlands Hall caters for boys aged nine to 20 who have an education, health and care plan (EHCP), a diagnosis of autism, or, in some cases, a physical disability.
