Suffolk dog thefts: Police alerted to 'suspicious' vehicles

Police were alerted to reports of suspected dog thieves in villages last week.

Officers were contacted shortly after 2.20pm on Friday, July 17 following reports of suspicious activity involving vehicles in Wickhambrook.

In a tweet, Haverhill Police said people were 'possibly looking for dogs to take' and urged residents to keep their 'eyes peeled and report anything that seems strange'.

An investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a further call was received shortly before 11.10am on Saturday, July 18 following reports that a Mitsubishi L200 had been sighted in Stradishall.

A spokeswoman said despite a search, there was no trace of the vehicle.

It follows the theft of four dogs and 13 puppies from a kennels in Barton Mills.

Another dog was stolen from a farm in Holywell Row.
