The ten funniest reactions after Matt Hancock's Haverhill walkabout video goes viral
Suffolk MP Matt Hancock has been likened to comedy characters including Alan Partridge after he posted a comeback video of him meeting members of his constituency.
The disgraced former health secretary shared a short video of him talking to people in Haverhill on Friday to his Twitter account yesterday, and, within minutes, he had received dozens of comments saying he reminded them of the awkward fictitious TV and radio presenter made famous by Steve Coogan.
Mr Hancock, who is MP for West Suffolk, was also compared to a Sacha Baron Cohen character or someone from the political satire TV series The Thick of It.
The viral video, which has been watched at least 573,000 times, shows him talking to people around the town, 'fist-bumping' a restaurant worker, while another resident tells him she's a 'big fan' of his.
It comes exactly three months after Mr Hancock resigned from his cabinet role in June after he was caught breaking coronavirus restrictions he helped to impose by kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo.
These are some of the funniest reactions to his comeback video on social media:
It comes just a few weeks after internet trolls donated money to the MP's London Marathon fundraising page just to hurl abuse at him.
Mr Hancock came under the spotlight after people took to his JustGiving page to leave offensive comments alongside an anonymous donation of £2.
So far, he's raised £6,110 for the cause ahead of the marathon a week today.
