Haverhill restaurant will not reopen again

The owners of Frankie & Benny's has confirmed that its restaurant in Haverhill has closed permanently.

Last week creditors voted in favour of a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) proposed by The Restaurant Group (TRG), which owns Frankie & Benny's.

The approval of the CVA meant that TRG would move ahead with the closure of 125 Frankie & Benny's restaurants across the UK.

The Haverhill site had been shut since the coronovirus lockdown came into force towards the end of March.

A spokesman for TRG said: "The casual dining sector has faced enormous, well documented pressures which have been exacerbated by covid-19 and the lockdown.

"Unfortunately, we have had to take difficult but necessary decisions to ensure a sustainable future for our business.

"We have been in close contact with affected colleagues throughout this process and we are doing all we can to support them during this time.”
