Devonports Haverhill crush their nearest rivals
CAMBRIDGESHIRE SQUASH LEAGUE
DIVISION FOUR
Devonports Haverhill 4 Peterborough IV 1
Devonports winning run continued as they swept aside a Peterborough team currently battling for the top spot occupied by the home team.
Devonports four, Geoff Wilson, registered the first success of the evening when scoring a comfortable 15-10, 15-11, 15-6 victory.
Skipper Malcolm Day played an experienced opponent, at five, and failed in his attempt to combat the Peterborough man’s style and went down 15-4, 15-8, 15-12.
Gary Last, at three, produced his best form of the season securing a hard fought 3-0 win, 15-11, 18-16, 19-17.
Nathan Ttophi, Devonports two, was struggling with a knee injury but his superior squash technique saw him beat off a younger opponent 15-12, 15-9, 16-14.
Tony Archer completed a fine night for Devonports when coming out on top to beat the Peterborough number one in dominant style, 15-10, 15-6, 15-13.
A terrific 17 points sees Devonports seal their top position.
Devonports have a cup match tonight against Division three team, Melbourn II, at the Leisure Centre.
