Good signs for Morrice with opening win at Santa Pod

Linton drag racer Collin Morrice showed his determination to bounce back in the 2018 UK National Drag Racing Championships after the disappointment of last season's final race disqualification at Santa Pod Raceway.

He had been mere seconds away from claiming his maiden title when he 'red lighted' – a drag racing term for false starting – and blew his chance.

But he said the only thing he could do was focus on this season, and signalled that intent with a successful showing at the first event of the tournament, the Festival of Power at Santa Pod.

He took part in both the Super Comp – his favoured event – and the Super Gas, taking home £6,000 across the weekend.

This came via a win on the Saturday in the Super Comp competition, and a semi-final run on the Sunday in the Super Gas leaving him in good standing for the rest of the season.

This weekend marks the start of Morrice's campaign in the 2018 FIA European Drag Racing Championships at Santa Pod.
