Haverhill Rovers strike a deal to sign former Thetford Town, Lakenheath, Mildenhall Town and Newmarket Town striker Shaun Avis

Haverhill Rovers have secured the services of a proven goalscorer.

Shaun Avis has agreed to join the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North club in a move that sees him reunited with manager Ben Cowling.

The pair previously linked up at Lakenheath, during which time Avis surpassed the 100-goal mark for the Premier Division outfit.

Last season the centre-forward was part of the Thetford Town squad that reached the Premier Division play-offs, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions from his 41 appearances in the process.

Avis, who is Rovers’ first addition of the summer, has also previously turned out for the likes of Mildenhall Town, Newmarket Town and Bury Town.

In recent days Rovers also confirmed the appointment of Tom Walker as first-team coach. Like Avis, Walker previously worked alongside Cowling at Lakenheath.
