Ipswich Co-Op Daily, in Cauldwell Hall Road, set to shut next month in ‘portfolio reshape’

A convenience store in Ipswich is set to shut its doors next month as part of a ‘portfolio reshape’.

The Co-op Daily, in Cauldwell Hall Road, will close on August 31.

According to a sign on the door, all workers at the store will be relocated to other East of England Co-op stores.

The Post Office counter will also cease operations when the store closes.

It read: “Our business is going through a portfolio reshape, opening new stores and refurbishing existing ones, as well as consolidating or closing some locations.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to you, our members as customers, and to the team at this store for the service they have provided over the years.”

Chief executive Doug Field said, to support the East of England Co-op’s journey back to sustainable profit, it needed to ensure every one of its assets was making a positive contribution and was aligned with the future vision of business.

“The decision to close our Cauldwell Hall Road food store is in no way a reflection on our incredible colleagues, who provide fantastic service to our members and customers,” he said.

“With several stores in the local area, including our new Ipswich Station store set to open later this year, we're pleased to be able to offer redeployment to all colleagues, protecting jobs.”
